12-year old Richard Gao is a student of The Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists of Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. He started learning piano when he was 2 and a half years old and was a prize- winner of the Canadian Music Competition at the age of 5. Richard made his Carnegie Hall debut when he was 7, and has performed at other prestigious venues such as Roy Thomson Hall, Koerner Hall, Merkin Hall and CBC Glenn Gould Studio.
Richard has won many competitions at international and national levels. Richard was Second Prize Winner of the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition in 2013, First Prize Winner of the American Protégé International Youth Piano Competition, and Gold Medal Winner of the AADGT International Piano Competition.
In Feb 2015, Richard performed at Roy Thomson Hall with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Currently Richard is a student of Dr. Michael Berkovsky at The Taylor Academy.
